You weren’t opposing the idea of going to Matthias’s house to play video games. However, you weren’t exactly ecstatic about the idea either. He usually invited you and sometimes Lukas, for the sole reason that he could beat both of you in a few rounds of Mario Kart® or something and enjoyed every second of it.

But hey, you got to see your friend/crush whenever you agreed to this, so it’s not all bad, amiright?

You pulled up to the Dane’s house, and shut off the car, not sure if you really wanted to step out and face Matthias and be teased at for not being “pro enough” or if you should just back out of the driveway right now, go home, and watch Netflix. You decided the former, since you’d gone to the trouble of coming to his house anyway.

You got out of your car, and walked up to the door, ringing the doorbell. Your heart thumped in your chest, and you didn’t know if you’d even be able to be around him in the state you were in. You heard thumping through the house and the door burst open. It was a smiling Matthias, decked out in a skin-tight tank top, sweat pants, and bare feet. Yup, he was ready to game today.

“(f/n)!” He yelled. “Glad you could make it; I was just about to start the console!”

“Y-yeah,” you said, trying very hard to not look at his muscular arms. “I thought it’d be nice to try and beat you in a game or something like that…”

He laughed and moved out of the way to let you in as he shut the door. “Well, I’ve redecorated the game room, you’ve gotta see!” He raced up the stairs, his back muscles practically ripping through the back of the tank top. You took a deep breath before following him at a slower pace.

You went to where the game room was, and lo behold, he had basically made it into a game dreamer’s paradise. Several game consoles hooked up to a single 72-inch flat screen HDTV, three floor-to-ceiling shelves entirely filled with games, most of them brand new and yet to be played. A functioning bar on the far wall with different drinks and flavorings, a few of them you could tell were alcoholic. Beside that were a few random couches, and in front of the TV, a three part couch & a loveseat on a higher platform behind that couch. On the walls were a couple guitars and a lot of gaming posters of various large-title games, a majority of them RPG and fantasy style. You noticed the speakers put onto the four corners of the ceiling and the padding on the walls meant to hold in sound. It must get so loud in here while he plays…

“You like it, (f/n)? I did it all myself! Well, with a little help from Lukas, but that’s besides the point.” You didn’t know what to say, you were astonished. He walked over and went behind the bar. “Want a drink? I’m dying to make something.”

Getting a hold of yourself, you straightened up. “Um… I’ll have a [favorite soda], if you’ve got any.”

He looked kind of disappointed. “Really? Nothing alcoholic, just a [favorite soda]?” When you nodded, he shook his head and reached into the fridge and grabbed a can of the stuff. “If you insist.”

He brought it over to you and settled across on the couch, pulling up the footrest so it reclined. You settled on the cushion next to him and pulled up the footrest. He handed you an Xbox controller after starting up the console. The familiar sounds of it booting up calmed you down a little bit. ‘I’m just going to play video games for a little bit and then leave. That’s it. Don’t get your hopes up for anything, you hopeless romantic,’ you thought.

Matthias clicked on a game you hadn’t heard of and you freaked out a little bit on the inside. It didn’t seem to be a competitive game but… a DATING SIMULATOR???

“What is this?” You asked, a little confused. And you realized only you had a controller…

“It’s a weird dating sim I heard about from Iceland. It’s called ‘How to Talk to Girls’. It’s supposed to be really weird and inaccurate and I wanted first time experience with you because I KNOW you’d want to make fun of it with me.”

He had a point. The menu had loaded and you took only a second to smirk and press ‘Play’. “You guessed correctly, my friend.”

Matthias thrust his fists into the air with excitement and then placed an arm around the top of the couch where you were. “Let’s see how stupid this is.”

~*~*~

“THAT’S NOT WHAT GIRLS WOULD SAY!!” “HOW WOULD I KNOW THAT??” “WHAT BULLSHIT IS THIS, THAT’S A PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE!” “WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN I HAVE 10 SECONDS TO MEMORIZE HER PHONE NUMBER? DO I NOT HAVE A PHONE?? I’LL SHOW IT TO YOU RIGHT NOW!”

These were just a few of the things you yelled at the annoying girl on the screen that couldn’t hear you, but was still managing to piss you off. Matthias laughed whenever you yelled one of these things and had to entrap you in a hug around the waist to keep you from jumping up and punching his new TV, much to your liking. When you finally finished the game, you were ready to burst with hysterical frustration that that is how the game developer sees women.

“Hey, are you calm now?” Matthias asked, his breath right next to your face, since he was still hugging you.

You looked at Matthias, into his eyes and let a dramatic pause happen before saying, “She didn’t even read her lines well.”

He burst into a fit of laughter, his head resting on your shoulder. Some of his hair brushed against your neck and kind of tickled you. You let out a soft giggle. It almost felt like you guys were dating, and that’s what you one day hoped would happen. But, for now, this is as close as you’re going to get.

When he had stopped dying of laughter on your shoulder, he let go of you and you instantly felt colder. He asked for the controller, which you gave him, and he set it on the table and leaned back on the couch, making it recline further. “I’m so happy you’re not like that girl, (f/n). I don’t think I’d like you as much.”

You blushed, and forgot to hide it. He glanced at you and smiled. “Yeah, I wouldn’t like you as much at all.” You looked away from him, your blush growing massively. “That girl was hideous, too. I mean, what’s with her wearing that sweater to work? That’s something seriously wrong. She was kinda dressed like Arthur… “

Then you laughed, Arthur being one of your close friends and it was very easy to make fun of him. You laughed when anyone did it. Matthias sat up again and put his arms around your waist, and rested his head on your shoulder. You stopped laughing and looked at him. “I love that laugh,” he said. “It sounds so pretty compared to mine.”

You felt your face heat up. “You have a nice laugh, too, ya know. And a nice voice and a big heart and you’re just pretty in general, I mean I don’t know what I’m really trying to say maybe that I really really like you andihaveforwhileandi’mgonnashutupnow.” You rushed that last part, to where you didn’t even know for sure about what you said but you were positive it was a confession. You put your hands to cover your face, and your embarrassment.

You felt Matthias take his head off your shoulder and remove his arms from around your waist. ‘Oh shoot,’ you thought. ‘I screwed up! I screwed up so BADLY.’ You had just thought he’d left when you felt him grab your wrists and pull your hands away from your face. You hadn’t even opened your eyes yet when you felt him kiss you. It wasn’t harsh or forced, it was soft and comforting, like he was trying to say “I like you too” without actually saying it.

His arms went around your shoulders and yours settled around his waist. You both kissed quietly and then he pulled back, resting his forehead against yours. “I’m glad you said that. DIdn’t know how much longer I could wait.” He chuckled.

You didn’t know what to say. You thought you had some cute, witty one liner to finish that but nope. Nothing. You just sat there, looking into his beautiful blue eyes, thinking of what was going to happen next.

“Does this give me permission to be your boyfriend?” He asked.

You shrugged. “Sure, why not? It seems like we’ve both want to, anyway. What’d be the point of saying no?”

He chuckled again. “Good point.” And with that, he kissed you again.
You let yourself really feel this one. It wasn’t like it was your last, but you wanted to enjoy the first one that defined the relationship as official. You both pulled back, and you both stopped hugging each other. “Can we play more crappy dating sims?” You asked.

“As long as I can hug you when you get mad.” Matthias answered without skipping a beat.

“You can do that, regardless.” You said.

“Yesss!” He exclaimed, his arm going around your shoulders as he kissed you on the cheek. He gave you the controller and you loaded up another game.
The gaming room is a more extreme version of my boyfriend's game room. It's actually pretty sweet.

This is a drabble I literally just finished and I have only a few things to say:

1. 'How to Talk to Girls' is a parody name I made up based off of a game called "Don't Be Nervous Talking to Girls", a laughable bad game that I watched Yamimash play and omg I'm going to go watch him play it again because...
2. Just go watch it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=H38nxf…
3. If you think Denmark is a bit OOC, then you're probably right. It's my first time writing him so I'm not sure if I got him right. XD
